1. Consumer (Product) risk assessment (General)
ECETOC TRA and Cons Expo as an exposure assessment tool may be used for a consumer (product) risk assessment and following basic parameters such as product type, exposure frequency, formulation, exposure factor and etc. are applied appropriately in accordance with the exposure scenario. Consequently, estimation of the amount of human exposure through possible pathways (inhalation, oral, and dermal) is feasible according to the product the use and usage form.
RCR (Risk Characterisation Ratio) for the consumer (product) risk assessment for each pathways can be calculated. To confirm whether risk management measure is proper or not, RCRs for non-carcinogenic and carcinogenic should be less than "1" and "10-6", respectively.
2. Environmental risk assessment
Environmental risk is assessed by applying the PEC value of each medium derived from the environmental exposure assessment. Environmental risk assessment yields RCRs for various media as fresh water, sediment, soil and etc.
It is possible to verify that the risk management measure is appropriate, when RCR for non-carcinogenic is less than “1”.
